Madam CJ Walker, penned by Rebel Girls, is a book about the first Black American female millionaire.
The book Madam C.J Walker Builds a Business was penned by Rebel Girls. Sarah Breedlove Walker, also known as Madam C.J Walker, was the first American female millionaire. She was an entrepreneur with a vision, so let’s start her story. Madam C.J Walker was born on December 23, 1867, to sharecropper parents. She had one daughter named A’ Leila Walker, whom she loved very much. Madam CJ Walker pursued her passion for making all women beautiful regardless of their complexion. She lived in an era that viewed darker-skinned women as less pretty or inferior in beauty when compared to lighter-skinned women. However, light-skinned versus dark-skinned tone is still an issue in the Black community. Through hard work and dedication to her hair care products, she became the first self-made female American millionaire.
Madame CJ Walker came from modest means. Her parents were married after she was born. She saw herself as a powerful individual; however, Madam CJ Walker had a difficult life. It appears that the odds were stacked against her. Sometimes it was as though she was never supposed to win at the game of life, but she never gave up and was a successful entrepreneur. Madam C.J Walker influenced many people; her perseverance and pursuit of happiness are a testament that anyone can rise from any downfall, even if knocked down several times. She influenced many people, inside and outside of her profession. Madame CJ Walker showed men and women what it meant to be amazing through the beauty of the hairstyling.
She is an inspiration to everyone. I recommend this book because the life of Madam CJ Walker demonstrates the importance of hard work and perseverance. Never give up!
