Psalm 23-The Good Shepherd

This book review is different from my other book reviews. It is a poem from the Book of Psalms. There are many poems in the Book of Psalms. However, today I chose to review Psalm 23, the most well-known psalm in all the world, one which also happens to be a poem.

King David is the author of Psalm 23. Psalm 23 is known as “The Good Sheperd Psalm.” It is called the “The Good Shepherd Psalm” because it speaks of The Good Shepherd, Jesus. King David the author of Psalm 23 was himself a shepherd. Before he was anointed to be a king, King David was a shepherd. He protected his sheep, and once fought off a lion to protect them. King David was a good shepherd. Like Jesus, he defended his sheep, as Jesus cares for and protects his people.

For example, the first two verses in Psalm 23 describes the character of The Good Shepherd; he cares for His sheep and provides for them. In verse three and verse four, The Good Shepherd directs the sheep to the right path. The sheep are not afraid because they know that The Good Shepherd is with them. The sheep have confidence that regardless of wherever they may find themselves, The Good Shepherd will always lead them back to the right path. Therefore, they fear no evil.

To remain in the house of the Lord forever is a personal choice. As we follow Jesus, The Good Shepherd, He gives us goodness and mercy forever.
I love Psalm 23. The 23 Psalm is taught to children in Sunday Schools all over the world. I enjoyed this poem, and I give this poem a thumbs up.
