Frankenstein is the story of a scientist named Victor who creates a creature from old body parts. After a while, he finally brings his creature to life. However, Victor regrets his decision almost immediately, as he realizes he’s truly made a mistake. The monster continues to wreak havoc in the surrounding area, murdering and causing many problems for his creator. It’s only after the monster kills Victor’s bride-to-be that he makes the decision to finally go after it and kill it.
Victor spends the rest of his time alive chasing around the monster. This pursuit brings him to the arctic, which begins to explain the opening of the book. He meets an unfortunate end, dying on a ship he was brought onto, as does the monster, who expresses deep regret for his actions, pledging to end his life. The book ends with him disappearing to do this very thing.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good, gothic science fiction story. Its plotline gives the reader opportunities to think about morality, and the consequences of man taking control of something he has no business interfering with.
